Queen Anne Lutheran Church, Seattle, WA, is seeking an enthusiastic, grace-centered individual to lead our Sunday School program and assist in the Teen programming. The position requires coordinating with the Pastor and Sunday School Committee to identify and schedule an appropriate curriculum (preschool-sixth grade). The successful candidate will also work with the Worship and Music Committee as it seeks to involve children in the worship life of our church. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with children and families in a ministry context, though experience in other areas may be applicable. Completion of college education in religion or education is desired, but not required. This is a part-time position (10-15 hours a week). Who We Are:  Queen Anne Lutheran Church is a welcoming congregation of the ELCA that seeks to make known the love of God in Jesus Christ.  We serve the community of Queen Anne, which lies just north of downtown Seattle.  Average weekly attendance in worship is approximately 100, with two services.  We have a small but vital, committed and growing group of Sunday School families.  Children range from 0-10 years old, and currently 5-10 kids are involved in our educational programming.  We are excited about the next phase of our ministry as both intergenerational and inclusive of children.
Job Description:  We seek an enthusiastic, grace-centered individual to lead our Sunday School program.  The position requires coordinating with the Pastor and Sunday School Committee to identify and schedule an appropriate curriculum (preschool-sixth grade).  The successful candidate will also work with the Worship and Music Committee as it seeks to involve children in the worship life of our church.
Qualifications:  The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with children and families in a ministry context, though experience in other areas may be applicable.  Completion of college education in religion or education is desired, but not required.  Candidates must be willing to adhere to the vision and mission of Queen Anne Lutheran Church, the Northwest Washington Synod, and the ELCA.  They must possess organizational skills and the ability to recruit and empower all ages for shared ministry.
Compensation:  The starting pay for this part-time position (10-15 hours a week) will be based on prior experience and time commitment, but will likely be between $20-25/hour+.  The Children’s Ministry Coordinator will likely spend at least several hours a week planning, with Sunday mornings (typically 8:00-Noon) reserved for Sunday School and worship activities.
Accountability:  The Children’s Ministry Coordinator will be accountable to the Pastor of Queen Anne Lutheran Church (who will be designated as supervisor), and, as needed, the Personnel Committee, and Church Council.  Collaboration with the Worship and Music Committee will also be expected.
