November Is “Feed Your Neighbor Month”

It is important to think of our neighbors year round, but November is a particularly busy month for our congregation. How can you participate? There are several ways:

Food Drive: Together with ForKids we will collect non-perishable food for delivery to Immanuel Lutheran Church in South Lake Union. Immanuel Lutheran provides numerous services for those in need, including a food bank. Food can be dropped off in the narthex or the church office. Click here for a list of needed items.

Community Lunch on Capitol Hill: Keeping with QALC’s 30+ year tradition, we will prepare and serve lunches at Community Lunch on Capitol Hill on the four Tuesdays in November (11/5, 11/12, 11/19, and 11/26). Volunteers are needed for each shift—Cooking and preparation: arrive anytime from 9AM to 11:30AM; Serving: noon to 1PM; Cleanup: 1:00PM to 1:30PM.  Please join in this valuable service to the community by signing up in the narthex, or contact Jim Margard at jrm952@gmail.com for information. (CLCH is located at 1710 11th Ave., across from Cal Anderson Park)

New Horizons Ministries: For the first time this year, we will prepare and serve breakfast for 35 youth on 11/7  (7:45 to 9:15); and dinner for 60 on 11/20 (6:30 until 8:00). Needed are 3-5 volunteers for breakfast and 4-8 for dinner. Please sign up in the narthex or contact Jim Margard (see above) for information. NHM, which provides services to youth not living at home, is located at 2709 3rd Avenue in Belltown, just south of Denny Way.

Later in the year: We also bake and decorate Christmas cookies for CLCH on a Sunday afternoon in mid-December here at Queen Anne Lutheran; all are welcome to help in the Fellowship Hall kitchen that day. Watch our calendar for details.
