Choirs & Instruments

Queen Anne Lutheran offers many opportunities to sing or play an instrument to serve in worship. Consider how you can give praise to God through music and enhance our worship together. You are welcome to be a part of the enjoyment and the good energy of making music with meaningful texts and a worshipful purpose.

For anyone interested in serving worship through vocal or instrumental music, please contact our Cantor, Kyle Haugen, at cantor@queenannelutheran.org or the church office at 206.284.1960. Newcomers are always welcome! Please feel welcome and encouraged to email or call if you are interested in being a part of the music ministry at Queen Anne Lutheran.

I try to keep rehearsals fast-paced, focused, educational, and fun. It’s not just about “learning the notes.” Come sing with us!

Choirs for Worship

Choir
A mixed choir for adults and high school students, the Choir rehearses on Thursdays at 7:00 p.m. in the Music Room, typically from September to May (sometimes early June, depending on when Pentecost falls). This choir serves in worship weekly at the 10:30 service, meeting prior to the service at 10 a.m. to warm up. Instrumentalists are also featured in choral pieces throughout the year.

Add your voice to QALC’s Choir One week One session or all season!

Choirs for Youth and Kids
Our Cantor, Kyle Haugen, is eager to engage with kids and youth at Queen Anne who are interested in singing or playing instruments for worship (and their friends are welcome, too!). Opportunities will be developed that serve our church community and enrich our worship life together.

Choirs for Tenors/Basses and for Sopranos/Altos
From time to time a “pickup choir” of Sopranos/Altos (women’s voices) or of Tenors/Basses (men’s voices) will be formed with a minimal rehearsal commitment—typically during the summer months or for special occasions or holidays. This can be a fun and easy way to engage with music for worship!

Instrumentalists

Youth and adults who play strings, woodwinds, brass, and other instruments are welcome! Please contact our Cantor, Kyle Haugen, if you are interested in playing. Opportunities include solo pieces, instruments with choral music, and accompanying congregational singing together with organ or piano.

Handbells

Queen Anne Lutheran has a wonderful set of handbells and typically offers opportunities to rehearse and offer handbell music in worship several times per year.
