THIS WEEK AT QALC

a quick view of upcoming events

This Sunday, August 19
WORSHIP at 10:00 AM

Sermon Series: Life After Death–Jesus, John, and the Jewish Faith
Each summer Pastor Dan invites you to submit topics you would like him to cover in his Sunday sermons.  This summer’s most frequent request was the topic of death.  What happens after we die?  It just so happens that our Gospel readings for the month of August, all taken from John 6, deal with the topic!  Join us, at our 10 AM worship service to hear another installment of this four-part series!

You can access Pastor Dan’s recent Pastor’s Word (July Quill) on the topic here.

ALMOST-IMPROMPTU SUMMER CHOIR—Women’s turn! (Anthem: Lift Thine Eyes, from Elijah by Mendelssohn) On Sunday, August 19 at 9:30 AM, come rehearse to sing at the 10 AM service the same day. All women’s voices are welcome; you don’t need to be a regular choir member to sing in the summer! Contact David at davidlepse62@yahoo.com if you’d like the score in advance.

LIVING OUT OUR MISSION— This special adult forum led by Pastor Dan will meet after worship on Sunday, August 19 to energize a discussion around the specific ways we live out our mission of “making God’s love in Christ known to every person.” Our goal is to identify FIVE PRIMARY WAYS we live out our mission in preparation for our Centennial celebration on Reformation Sunday (October 28). Think of a way and then share it! A display inviting your suggestions will be up in the narthex later this month.

PLEASE BRING AN ITEM FOR OUR FOOD DRIVE for Ronald McDonald House to church with you. Snack bars, canned fruit, instant soup, cereal – easy!  Click here for a handy link to the list of needed items. If everyone brings ONE item, we’ll have a lot! Only a few weeks left to bring items!

SUNDAY, AUGUST 26: DORCAS WANG TO VISIT US

Our ELCA partner in global work in China, Dorcas Wang, will visit us on Sunday, August 26 to bring us greetings and thanks for our support, and to tell us about her work in Beijing.
